I hope that this is okay... My e-book, The Universal Mirror, is free for today and tomorrow over at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/The-Universal-Mirror-ebook/dp/B006VYHLNS/ref=zg_bs_158576011_5

The UK review did a great job of summarizing the book: "The author creates a very atmospheric world of magicians and commoners, in which magicians Quentin and Asahel turn grave robber to restore Quentin's wife's plague-ridden beauty. Unfortunately this means committing heresy, and this lead the main characters into conflict with this world's ruling council. What follows is a fast paced thriller packed with magical incidents, with the action motivated by the life affirming need to heal."

Anyways, please feel free to snag a copy before the sale ends!

What’s a computer geek to do? This ain’t no MMORPG!

Arthur Bible, computer programmer and routine geek, had a normal life. But when his best pal Galen's ex-girlfriend drops in from another dimension and shatters a simple after-work dinner with bullets, fists, and bodies flying in epic Hollywood proportions . . . well, life stopped being quite so normal.

It turns out that his pal has a past undreamed of. He has the ability to ‘fold’ physical laws from one dimension to the next and has made more than a few enemies—besides his former fiancée Lian—who are looking to settle scores.

Thus begins a chase that drags Arthur, Galen and Lian through modern Manhattan and three fantastic parallel Earths: one of zeppelins, chi-powered martial arts and steam-driven robots; another with magicians, sword-wielding nobility and elemental riverboats; the third with fantastic super-science and fascist telepaths.

Worse yet, Arthur discovers that Nexus, the shadowy inter-dimensional organization seeking to kill them might actually be the lesser of two evils!

Pimpage - Circle Dark Publishing [Apr. 17th, 2007|06:06 pm]

Okay, so, this isn't pimping original works or anything, but hopefully this will still follow the rules and be good for everyone. So, without further ado....

Circle Dark Publishing is a brand new publisher, we just opened our "doors," so to speak, on March 1st. Our goal is to have a different view of publishing and the market than other publishers out there. We are writers and readers as well as publishers, and we know there is no such thing as "the average reader." There are too many authors who have been asked to completely rewrite and reconfigure their stories or their protagonists for the sake of "what the reader wants to see." We will not do that. Our plan is to trust the author to know what works for their characters, their story, and to trust the content of our books to attract the sort of reader-base we intend to market to: thoughtful and intelligent. We will also trust the readers to be thoughtful, to be intelligent, to know when they view our website that this is what they will find.

Currently, we have an E-Book Division that is accepting submissions, and we hope to have our Print Division operational within a year.

Our E-Book Division is accepting short story submissions for our first e-book anthology. The deadline for submissions is August 1st, with the projected date of publication being December 1st. This anthology will be our very first published project, and we are very excited about it. We hope to get bushels and bushels of submissions!

For more information, please see our website: Circle Dark Publishing.

I hope this was appropriate for this community. If not, let me know if I should change or remove the post. Thank you!

Pimp your stuff here! [Apr. 16th, 2007|09:34 pm]

This community is...a bit of an experiment. I've noticed that more than a couple of individuals in the fanfic writing community have or are publishing books with various epublishers (and print publishers for that matter). I...have not gotten there yet. Hopefully, some day I will. Whether or not I'm interested in entangling my fannish identity with my writing identity remains to be seen, but plenty of you are more than happy to leverage your fic readership into paying ebook readership.

I thought, why not have a centralized place to do that?

To that end, I've created the LJEbooks community. The idea is, you join, you pimp your stuff, and folks who perhaps have enjoyed your fanfic writing can be like, "Oh, it's totally worth $1.95 or $5.99 or whatever to enjoy so-and-so's original fiction." Click. Pay. Yay!

So, ground rules...
  • Please only pimp your own stuff, or stuff from people who you know are okay with the linking of LJ identity w/ ebook writing identity.
  • Excerpts welcome, but BEHIND LJ-CUTS PLEASE.
  • Please let us know the name of the epublisher, the title, your LJ name, the name you're writing under and a little about your story (like genre, length, brief summary, pub date, etc)
  • We'd very much like links to your fanfic as well. Chances are, if I like the way you write Spuffy or McShep or what have you, I'm more likely to drop a little cash on your ebook, so please go ahead and pimp a couple of your fanfic stories as well, if you're so inclined.
  • Pimp one title at a time, please, for archiving purposes. If you have a bunch of older titles, we'd love to have you pimp them all, but please try to spread them out and not pimp them all at one time.
  • ETA: We love print too!

The rest...we'll make up as we go, but basically, don't go crazy with the spammage, and don't link fannish and prowriter identities for people unless you're sure they're okay with it, and we should be all good! Enjoy. :)
